Three Mistakes of my life

When people said I did not listen. I just wanted to see how someone can make same blunder again? First time mistake is excused to everyone but if you do it again, it’s not correct and when you do it on a large scale, it’s a crime, playing with people’s emotion, taking their hard earned money and giving them something that’s not worth their time or money. I am talking about audacity to make Happy New Year by Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan after Tees Maar Khan and Ra-1.

I just wanted to see what was the fuss all about, I know that you should never care about "What’s the fuss all about" in any SRK or Farah Khan movie but this was different. These people are in business from a long time and have created great movies in past but this one been out of any league known to mankind.
The jokes are bad; movie is unsettlingly too lengthy with enormous star cast given bad roles and lines. Shahrukh khan’s ten pack has looked really ugly and doesnt look real. Following pic was viral on social network sites few days ago and it is not exaggeration,

SRK_Croc_380

There are sequences which were totally unnecessary and simply added duration to the length of the movie. It was a 3 hours movie filled with pathetic sequences and jokes, very very awful slapstick comedy. The entire movie is filled with glitter and nowhere gives any sense of anything. Actors like Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan are wasted by giving them bad accent and awful bad personality. Deepika does not know English but loves English and Abhishek loves to puke !! I mean what’s wrong with these people ? There are jokes which were supposed to be funny ……… 20 years before !! I now felt Humshakals was better than this, yeah I have watched Humshakals as well and lived to tell tale about.

happy-new-year-12a

If you are fan of any of its star cast then watch only last 30-45 minutes where movie is good, you would feel its good because you would have lost patience in first 2.5 hours. Again, watch it but don’t spend 3 hours for it.

Charismatic Chulbul Pandey

I am no Salman fan and neither was fascinated to watch his newest flick “Dabaang”. One of my buddy sent me a SMS asking “Dabaang next weekend” and I promptly replied “Definitely not” but my friends and my wife made me watch it and I must tell you, I can’t believe I am saying this, that it’s a kind of movie which should not be ignored AT ALL.

Dabaangg should in fact be spelled Dabang, pronounced as The-bung means fearless and that’s its lead, Inspector Chulbul Pandey. Film begins from him and finishes on him. It’s somewhat a stand-up comedy act from Salmaan Khan and to represent it as a movie circumstances are shaped around him. I said stand-up comedy because every time Chulbul Pandey opens his mouth it ends up with something extremely hilarious. Each sentence he speaks is better than the previous one. Dialogues and situations are formed so vividly that there will not be a single instant where you will not find yourself laughing your guts out. You can say that movie is predictable but dialogues, no way.

We have seen many Hindi movies and as soon as it talks about Bihar or UP, it’s all the time violence, corruption and polluted politics but not at this instance. This has violent behaviour and muddy politics but this movie does something poles apart. You will never find a police inspector from UP doing better item number then Malaika, you might even cry because you would have laughed so much only by his dance in the movie especially in “munni badnaam hui”. Salman has done whatever he wanted and yet it was total value for money deal. Till today I have liked 1-2 Salmaan’s movie and my much-loved is one of them “Andaaz Apna Apna” and not to forget “Judwaa”, I find irresistible Salmaan when he does comedy, he is brilliant at it. From scene one Salman will build such atmosphere that if he is not in a scene then you may not like it at all. People who think highly of Rajnikant and can’t see his movies because they are all in Tamil, here is Rajnikant of Hindi movies Chulbul Pandey for you. Total Rajnikant style but in his own way.

Verdict: - Do watch it because it’s VERY VERY VERY FUNNY. It has broken 3 Idiots’ weekend collection records. I would recommend you to go and watch it in theatre because it’s a kind of movie which must be watched in middle of people who love Salman and whistle and shout for his every appearance and dialogue. Don’t look forward to see anyone else in this movie because it’s just Salmaan oriented film and everyone else has just 5-10 minute character to play. I am sure that you anyways will not at all wish for anyone to emerge on screen apart from Salmaan. For me there were way too many songs but that’s ok, I can pardon them for what I got apart from it and Songs aren’t too bad at all.

My Rating: 5/5 just because it does not bore you and gives you 100% value for money unlike recent tremendously terrible movies this year.

Prince VS Kites

Question no.1 - Why I want to write about these 2 movies ??

Answer no. 1:- Because last weekend I saw both and I was surprised to notice how media works to hype something.

Question no. 2 – Why now ?

Answer no. 2 - I know its too late to write about these 2 films as they are nearly 2-3 month old and one of them already have had its television premier but I still wanted to go ahead and do it because for me time is never a problem :D

So let’s take them one by one,

Who is in it – Kites has a quit strange star caste with hunk Kabir Bedi, Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut and I have no idea about rest of them.

What’s the deal – Movie making is an art and Rakesh Roshan has that ability, we have seen great movies from him which includes “Kaho na pyaar hai” and “Koi mil gaya” but this time he has got it all wrong. The movie to me was any old story where hero and heroine are running from heroine’s evil family because hero is either poor or belongs to a different caste, if they get caught they will be slaughtered, concept like “Gadar” or in-fact “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”. But here the lone difference is that all of it is shot in Las Vegas and Mexico. Hrithik Roshan has tried a lot but failed to deliver, he hammed it up completely. Barbara Moori on the other hand looked strikingly gorgeous and has acted very well.

Conclusion - Entire production money is exhausted on luxurious locations and not even on cast. Kabir Bedi is a real stud even at this age in front of Hrithik and was given just a 5 minute role. Kites have no story or any purpose. Skip it even if you are a Hrithik fan. If you want to watch it then watch it just for Barbara Moori, she has looked stunning and has acted extremely well.

Who is in it – Vivek Oberoi and ????

What’s the deal – It’s a big deal, Bollywood has failed again and again whenever it comes to a sci-fi action flick attempt. Haunting examples like Love story 2050, Krrish, Blue and Dhoom 2 are amongst big banners who botched to capitalize on this recipe. The problem with each of these movies was that they were either copied from a Hollywood movie or have spent entire money on special effects!! But what about story?? Prince by far is incredibly fine movie!! Prince has an decent story line which is NOT inspired at all except 1 or 2 extremely short sequences from Paycheck and Bourne Identity. Special effects are acceptable and are not at all shabby. Few things which were too much even for a Hollywood movie like brain crashes and reboots, memory can be transferred to a hard disk but they were there momentarily and I could very well pardoned all just because the story and direction were sincere and gripping.

Conclusion - Prince is not at all a bad movie, it worked for me. It’s a kind of movie from which you can look forward to some more Indian sci-fi action flicks if taken inspiration from. Watch it if you get an opportunity, it’s not extraordinary but absolutely a good quality movie and much much much better then Kites.

300 Idiots

Picture this,

I am in middle of the crowd which is chanting the slogans used in freedom struggle, "Inquilab Zindabad" (Long Live the Revolution), "Angrejo Bharat Chhodo" (British Quit India), "Tanashahi nahi chalegi nahi chalegi" (Dictatorship must not prevail) and "Hindustan Zindabad Pakistan Murdbad" (Long live India, not so for Pakistan).

Now where do you think I am, you might say that either I am in an election meeting or in a Protest but how you will react if I tell you that this was the situation in the movie theatre while watching “3 Idiots” surrunded by 300 idiots!! he he he I am not joking.

We went to see this movie after lots of recommendation and the outcome was not bad at all but the overall experience was one of its kinds. When movie was in its closing stages the machine broke and crowd was left stranded without a climax. People were tolerant for initial 45 minutes but then some notorious guys started some monkey business. They started reciting all those slogans I mentioned above including “Tum mujhe khoon do mai tumhe azadi doonga” (You give me your blood and I will present you with freedom). It was entertaining. At last show did not carry on and the people went restless. Theatre proprietor was a smart man, he without delay called law enforcement and started refunding the money. So to tell you in plain English, We watched almost whole 3 Idiots for FREE :-) and you know what I even got my photograph clicked by the press photographer as a suffered consumer. Can you spot me in Green T-Shirt.

Let’s talk about the movie, I am not a very very huge fan of Aamir Khan’s Movies or Aamir Khan’s but I must tell you that this one is a TOP NOTCH. The movie has everything Emotion, humour, tragedy etc but most significantly it has a meaning. Message to be accomplished and not to run behind accomplishment. I know you might say how that can be good, it is and it means if you are well skilled then Success will run behind you. It is to all those parents who weigh down their dreams on their kids and anticipate them to accomplish those dreams for them, failing to understand that they are assassinating their childhood and pushing them towards depression. It’s to all professors, college universities and schools that securing first-class grades is not the eventual aim, the objective should be to gain knowledge of new things, practical knowledge and not just getting passed by simply reading the books.

The assets of the movie are EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER; Each and every smallest character has a very vital part and a very concrete casting. All the key actors did more than full righteousness to their characters but even a 5 minute roles from Javed Jaffery, Mona Singh as Kareena’s Sister and the hostel helper boy named “Millimetre” in the movie were well played and were too significant for the movie. “Three Idiots” has some excellent songs and a bright screenplay. It’s said that it’s inspired from the book “Five point someone” but I would say that it’s very loosely based on the book, you can relate only very few parts of the movie to the book. So please do not expect it as a movie version of “Five point someone”.

It’s a very refreshing movie and has some very different kind of funniness to it. It’s a very encouraging and remarkable movie with a very fruitful finish (Climax which was missed in theatre, I had to watch it by downloading it). One of my friend said that it’s a kind of movie which has to be kept in the collection to watch it over and over and I agree somewhat with him. According to me it’s for sure certainly one time watch but I did not get the same reaction what I still have for “Hera Pheri” or “Andaaz Apna Apna”, maybe I will if I watch it for the 2nd time :-). Do Go and watch in the theatre if tickets are not over priced.

I would rate it 4/5

De Dana Dan

De Dana Dan

Today I went to see the newest movie "De dana dan", Directed by Priyadarshan who tried to cast the magic of Hera Pheri. But you know, Hera pheri was a work of art which in my opinion requires a great skill to replicate and more you try to repeat it the more you tend to fail which we have seen in previous few of Priyadarshan movies like “Malamaal Weekly”, “Hera Pheri 2” and “Bhagam Bhag”. A master piece like “Hera Pheri” comes out just from simplicity.
Well let’s talk about the movie "De dana dan".  The biggest assets of the film are Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and clearly Archana Puran Singh. She is loud but in my opinion she does justice to her character in each movie. The movie has tooo too toooooooooooo many characters. And as we know Priyadarshan direction from the times of Hera Pheri that all his movies are packed with lots of characters which builds misunderstandings and in the last part everyone runs behind each other. You will find the same in this film again. But in this movie it’s somewhat comical in a better way and entertaining at some points too. There is an excessive shouting after the intermission, almost each character has delivered dialogues while almost screaming. But even that I found funny.
But you know I have learned one thing in past few years that there is an enormous disparity between seeing a movie in a theatre and at home on television. The movie becomes 10 times better when it’s watched jointly with hundreds of strangers. Like few of my friends watched “All the best” in the theatre and going by their good opinion towards the movie I watched it at home and to tell you very honestly, I did not laughed even at any single instance. It was garbage.
Well “De dana dan” is a complete time pass if watched in the theatre which I can’t guarantee the same if watched at home on television. According to me you can watch this movie. There are just few scenes which could make me laugh but my in-laws and cousin sister-in-law were rolling on their stomach, the reason being that they have not watched most of Priyadarshan movies. It’s just same old Priyadarshan trademark movie which starts with light comedy, creates confusion in the middle with an extra stretched turmoil towards the end. I enjoyed the movie because the tickets were for free, accompanied by complimentary popcorn and Pepsi.
If you really want to watch a comedy movie in the theatre and ready to shell out few hundred bucks then I would suggest to give "De Dana Dan" a shot. It’s not that bad. It’s in fact a good Akshay Kumar movie after a very long time in which he has made a sincere attempt to make people laugh which he has succeeded to some degree
I would rate it 3/5

Tere Sang – A Kidult Love Story

Today I saw a movie title of which is the same as the title of this post. I know many of you would not have heard of it because it’s already out of theatres. When we started this movie I had a slight info about the movie that it’s about 2 teenagers who by mistake end up having a preteen physical relation. I actually had no faith in the movie, I was thinking it will be just another film in which director would try a disastrous effort to offer audience a message.

The movie did not have any huge star caste or any other extraordinary features but I still decided to go ahead and write about it because of its unusualness. The movie is directed by none other than Satish Kaushik and music is composed by Anu Malik. I was astonished to notice those names at the opening and at the finish of the movie. A movie with such big names went overlooked.

So What’s the fuss all about!!

The Movie is about 2 teenagers, who go eloped after committing the blunder and a 17 yr old tries to take care of his 15 yr old pregnant companion. Movie does not have any excellent story but what it does have a strong finish which I and my wife were never presuming. The ending is not a total shock but a very indisputable one. Movie also has very different dialogues, every time there is a dialogue or a situation which is repeated in almost all Indian movies had a very different and far better conclusion in comparison to what every other movie has. I just loved the way Satish Kaushik and Rajat Kapoor acted right through the movie, they just proved how effortless and sparkling they are in their work and I would say in fact that this one is the best of Satish Kaushik's any roles that he has played till now.

If you get hold of this movie then try to watch it, it’s not bad :D

What's my Rashee??

Yes I was asking this same question after being tormented by the latest movie “What’s your Raashee“. Me, my wife and a friend went for this movie today and found it an absolute waste of time. The movie had nothing to offer to its audience. Ashutosh Gowariker has again tried a total new concept which he always does. I still can’t remember a better movie then Lagaan and Swadesh but this one is a total turn-off.

What does movie offer – It’s about a guy who has to get married within a week. He is given a choice with 176 girls to choose from but he decides to meet just 12 of them, 1 from each sun sign. He does so because he reads a book “What’s your Rashee” which tells him that every sun sign has its own distinctive qualities. All 12 girls are played by Piggy Chops depicting metaphor for Harman Baweja’s dream girl. Indeed an original thought.

Movies biggest assets – Priyanka Chopra, She has looked stunning. She has done an amazing job while portraying these 12 poles apart characters. She has acted very well right through the movie. Also, the final song which shows all 12 Priyanka Chopras together is actually the best song and has a very lovely feel in it.

So why did Titanic Sink??
1. Whenever Harman Baweja goes to see a girl there is a song!! 12 songs in total and then 13th when all of them come together.
2. Harman Baweja can’t give expressions for nuts; I found his performance well under average.
3. Duration of the movie, over 3.5 hrs!!
4. All characters had very slackly written role. Excluding Priyanka Chopra everyone failed to make an impression.
5. Climax is stupid and it does not give explanation for why he got married to XYZ girl out of those 12. Almost 8-9 candidates which story makes sure that Harman will not tie the knot with but out of remaining 4-3 why he chooses XYZ!!! I am still searching for that answer.

Please don’t go and watch it in the theatre because it’s a complete waste of time. If you disagree I would love to hear from you.
